A hub height of 180 meters, a rotor diameter of 110 meters and a distance of 850 meters to the next building: This is what the wind turbine that the municipality of Maisach wants to set up north of Rottbach should look like.

Rottbach – Mayor Hans Seidl had been silent for a long time about the planned wind turbine.

The head of Maisach's town hall wanted to inform the affected citizens directly about the project.

He has now done this at the citizens' assembly for the districts of Überacker and Rottbach.

In front of around 60 listeners, he promoted the wind turbine, which is intended to make a decisive contribution to Maisach's security of supply.

Windmill Rottbach: The distances

However, it will still be some time before the rotor turns in the wind.

So far there is an expert report on the wind yield, but further investigations, including on species and nature conservation, are still pending.

A schedule cannot be presented seriously, said Seidl.

One thing is clear: "As soon as all property matters have been settled, the municipal council will make the decision to prepare the development plan."

This is necessary because the wind turbine will not comply with the 10H rule in any direction.

The distances: 1,000 meters to the outskirts of Rottbach, 930 meters to the outskirts of Deisenhofen, 1,600 meters to Cake Ried, 1,200 meters to Dürabuch, 850 meters to Prack, 1,250 meters to the property in Einsbach and 1,520 meters to the Zötzelhof.

One of the residents wanted to know why the system had to be placed in such a confined area.

He referred to the city of Munich, which is involved in a wind farm in Norway.

For Seidl, however, this is not an alternative.

"The government probably saw the issue that way when it came to gas," said the head of town hall, referring to Germany's gas dependency on Russia.

The independence that a wind turbine on our own land would bring with it "makes us a little invulnerable".

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

The project has nothing to do with prestige.

"The municipal council does not decide this for fun and frolics, but because it is necessary," said Seidl.

Maisach must be as regional as possible when it comes to supply – including commercial operations.

This is the only way to ensure affordable care.

With photovoltaics and wind power, the community can be 80 to 85 percent self-sufficient.

And: "All the plants that we are planning can be dismantled and will not leave behind any contaminated sites if there are other ways of generating energy in 30 years." At the moment, however, there is no alternative to expanding wind power, says Seidl.

Windmill Rottbach: Several information events

It is important to the head of the town hall that the citizens are taken along on the planning path.

"If we don't win over the population for the climate protection measures, we will all fail together." For this reason, at least three information events are planned - the first even before the municipal council decided to set it up.

Further events are planned between the two public presentations of the draft plan and before the start of construction of the plant.

In addition, the possibility should be created for the citizens to participate financially in the wind turbine.

However, the achievable return is still unclear.

The wind turbine would be significantly higher than the two turbines located near Malching and Mammendorf (hub height just under 140 meters each).

However, the efficiency would increase significantly with the height.
