Census 2022 in Bavaria: Online offer "already valuable resources" - special feature in the Free State

The 2022 census has been running in Bavaria since mid-May.

The first conclusion is positive: within a very short time, a million mark was cracked.

Fürth – The 2022 census in Bavaria started on May 15.

Now the Bavarian State Office for Statistics drew a first conclusion.

And that is definitely positive, according to the press release from the authority.

Above all, because the "resource-saving online reports from citizens on the census of buildings and apartments" broke the million mark after a short time.

However, caution is still required: At the start of the 2022 census in Bavaria, the authorities warned of fraudsters.

A Bavarian was particularly careful here and chased the interrogator off his property.

Census 2022 in Bavaria: The special feature in the Free State

In the first two mailing waves, 2.2 million letters were sent as part of the census of buildings and apartments.

The Bavarian State Office for Statistics, in the person of President Thomas Gößl, is particularly pleased about the digital success: "We are very pleased that the offer to fill out the questionnaire for the census of buildings and apartments online is very well received by many respondents.

It's convenient, quick, easy and saves valuable resources."

The household survey of the 2022 census also started on May 16.

There is a special feature for Bavaria here: the survey officers, who conduct personal interviews for this purpose, are supported by the latest digital tools in the form of tablets.

A total of 2.38 million citizens in Bavaria will be randomly surveyed by mid-August 2022.

Half of them are selected for an additional questionnaire.

2022 census: The big advantage compared to 2011

According to the press release, the team of experts at the State Office is very willing to fill out this additional questionnaire directly online with the interviewer.

Overall, this is an improvement compared to the 2011 census, especially in terms of time savings. At the same time, however, questions about data protection were also raised.

In the coming weeks, the last large batch of letters on the building and apartment census will be sent out.

The household survey of the 2022 census in Bavaria will run until August.

To secure the statistical survey, a small proportion of the respondents will receive a repeat survey.
