After a two-year Corona break, there was another town hall meeting in Kreuth.

The community focuses on construction and housing issues.

Residents criticized the high traffic noise.

Kreuth – Tourism plays a major role in the mountaineering village of Kreuth.

But that also brings problems.

Second homes, a lot of traffic and difficulties in the pandemic were central topics of the citizens' meeting on Tuesday evening.

City hall chief Josef Bierschneider (CSU) answered questions from around 50 visitors in the Schützenhaus.

tourism

After all: Kreuth has recovered from the "two difficult years" in terms of tourism faster than city and trade fair tourism, explained Bierschneider.

Specifically, 36 percent fewer guests arrived in Kreuth in 2020 than before the pandemic.

In 2021 it was even 44 percent less than in 2019. Now that the borders and companies are open again, there is still a lack of catering staff.

"We invested a lot during the Corona period," said the mayor, referring to the renovated Kneipp pool in the spa gardens, to the finished teaching and adventure garden at the former Riedler cemetery and to the new mountaineering village newspaper, the second edition of which is in the works be.

This year, the Alpine nature trail from the Wallberghaus to the Risserkogel will also be renovated under the direction of the Bavarian State Forests.

The community was also re-certified as a climatic health resort.

The measurements for the connection certificate from 2023/24 are already underway.

For more than a year, measuring strips are sent to the German weather service on a weekly basis.

"A certification has to be recertified regularly," Bierschneider summarized the somewhat complicated procedure with a smile.

Building and living

Anyone who only wants to live in Kreuth part of the time despite the good air has had a hard time since 2018.

A corresponding statute prohibits the conversion of living space into second homes (we reported).

From 2021 to 2022, the number of secondary residences fell from 395 to 379. Bierschneider explained that two property developers had sued the statute.

At Ringsee, the community lost the process.

"We won in Weissach," reported Bierschneider.

The plaintiff wanted to appeal;

the administrative court did not allow this.

Now the plaintiff is trying to sue for the revision with a non-admission complaint.

The outcome is open, but the stubbornness of the second home owner caused the audience to shake their heads.

In order to avoid capitalizing in the millions from former local programs in the future, Bierschneider announced that he only intends to allocate such plots of land with heritable building rights.

“So we always have our hands on it.” Four of the five plots of the planned commercial area on Wiesseer Strasse have already been allocated using this approach, and the municipality wants to rent out one plot.

Structurally, things are also getting exciting at the Riedler Bridge.

The 100-year-old building is to be renovated "at the earliest in 2024";

Until then, plans for the bridge with public participation and the preparation of a temporary bridge for pedestrians are pending.

Bierschneider also outlined the major projects Wildbad Kreuth, Bachmair Weissach, Klinik im Alpenpark, the expansion of the Aldi market and the development plan in Bruneck (we reported on each).

The latter is intended to prevent a tacit conversion into residential property by blocking changes.

Bierschneider announced “various talks” about the May Clinic.

The aim is to acquire at least parts of the area.

The mayor emphasized that the municipality had recently lost the right of first refusal, since a shareholder had sold his shares in the associated GmbH, but not the property itself.

Corona effects

Financially, despite the pandemic, Kreuth is “better than feared”.

Due to other mandatory tasks and the financial situation, the renovation plans for the Kreuth fire station (“postponed, but we’ll stay tuned”) and the senior citizens’ bus ticket have been postponed this year.
