The block handling for trucks on the route towards Brenner has been causing trouble for years.

Now Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol want to cooperate more closely.

Munich - In the dispute over the block handling of trucks in Austria, Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol are now relying on "problem solvers" from the economy.

Representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Economics from Munich and Upper Bavaria, Tyrol and Bolzano should monitor the controversial measure on the busy Brenner route in future and document the consequences.

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Thursday that the data collected should be handed over to politicians and the authorities.

Please in mid-June there is a risk of numerous block handlings in Austria due to several public holidays and the Pentecost holidays.

In order to relieve the Inntalautobahn, a maximum of 300 trucks per hour are allowed to drive from Bavaria to Austria on Friday (May 27th).

On normal days, however, this is hardly enough to absorb truck traffic.

The result is regularly long traffic jams on the A93 and the A8, sometimes as far as the Munich area - and corresponding annoyance for residents, truck drivers, freight forwarders and the economy.

Block processing: Aiwanger wants to “defuse the situation”

It should get better in the future.

The three practitioners were already deployed for the first time on Wednesday at the Kufstein, Innsbruck and Brenner hubs.

Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger said that they wanted to “defuse the deadlock” with the shop stewards.

The federal government must also make freight transport by rail cheaper.

The traffic jams are "an impertinence for everyone involved." Tyrol's Economic Councilor Anton Mattle defended the block handling, which is the only way to prevent the "traffic collapse" in Austria.
