Due to the demand of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation: The IDF banned an officer from conducting the swearing-in ceremony
An education officer was to lead the swearing-in ceremony for the Givati Brigade's fighters at the Western Wall - until commanders complied with the foundation's request, which demanded that a woman not lead the ceremony.
IDF Spokesman: "The request was received by mistake in the discretion, the incident will be investigated"

An officer planned to preside over the swearing-in ceremony, but at the request of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, she was required not to preside over it, simply because she was a woman.
Last night (Thursday), before the swearing-in ceremony of the Givati Brigade's fighters at the Western Wall, the commanders in charge of the ceremony agreed to the foundation's request and asked the education officer not to lead the ceremony.
The IDF spokesman said that "the request arose during rehearsals for the ceremony and the decision to change the facilitator was made by the commanders at the scene, without error in the judgment of those present, without consulting senior commanders and without them being involved or familiar with the situation.
The incident will be investigated.
We emphasize that the IDF does not have an ordinance prohibiting the conduct of ceremonies by women.
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation stated that "military ceremonies at the Western Wall are conducted in accordance with procedures established by the IDF."
The women of the Western Wall responded that "the disgrace, absurdity and distortion continue in the Western Wall."
They attacked the Rabbi of the Western Wall, who they said "has been working to silence women at the Western Wall for decades in halakhic arguments, proving that this is not a religious issue but a forceful one.
