After a two-hour meeting in Matignon with the entire government, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne named purchasing power, health and the climate as the three “urgencies” that the government must tackle.
“The first weeks of our action must be devoted to responding to the emergencies of the French”, pleaded the head of government, after having set “three watchwords” to her ministers gathered at Matignon: “speed, efficiency and results”.
“We agreed that there should be no oversights or blind spots.
In addition to retirees, employees, the self-employed, public officials, I have asked my ministers to pay particular attention to students", underlined Élisabeth Borne to the press, while the three priorities set should give rise to measures as soon as parliamentary work resumes after the legislative elections on 12 and 19 June.
A government seminar planned before the end of June
At the same time, while hospitals are facing a shortage of staff, the Prime Minister assured that she had asked the "ministers concerned" to "make proposals very quickly to take effective measures for the summer".
Finally, the head of government said she wanted to carry out the "construction site" of ecological planning "at a rapid pace", calling on all the ministries to "mobilize" and "participate".
“But these emergency projects obviously do not exhaust the action of the government”, noted the Prime Minister, who gave “three watchwords: speed, efficiency and results”.
In order to follow up on these roadmaps, Elisabeth Borne announced that a government seminar would take place "before the end of June" around Emmanuel Macron, while indicating that a meeting of the "same format" with all the ministers would take place every month at Matignon.
