Bathers in Erlangen had to leave the outdoor pool due to the severe storm.

This is now causing some fierce criticism.

The pool manager has spoken.

Erlangen - Strong storms have recently hit Bavaria, and Franconia has also been affected by rain, storms and thunderstorms - as has Erlangen.

The outdoor pools therefore had to close early on Friday evening (May 20).

There is now some heavy criticism for this.

Storm in Bavaria: Bathers have to leave the outdoor pool – "I think it's a cheek"

"When the storm broke, they threw all visitors out of the bathroom," quoted

infranken.de

from Michael Nöth's Facebook post.

According to his own statements, he was at Westbad around 6 p.m. to pick up his girlfriend and her grandson (7).

As he reports, the bathers were asked to leave the anteroom of the outdoor pool, "although there is no other protection from wind and rain nearby." The man made it clear: "I think it's a cheek."

Anger about the Erlangen outdoor pool in the event of a storm: "So there is no trace of humanity"

"People were also sent out from inside," reports Nöth in an interview with

infranken.de

a few days later.

Some of the bathers even sought shelter in an underground car park from the storm.

According to the instructions of the outdoor pool staff, they should not have stayed there.

"So there is no trace of humanity," the man reports angrily to the portal.

According to Nöth, the woman and the child then went outside despite the pouring rain.

"If it's pouring, I'll just leave the bathers in the changing area where they're protected." He doesn't understand why the bathers were sent out.

Severe weather in Bavaria: trouble about the outdoor pool - "safety comes first"

Matthias Batz, head of the pools department at the Erlanger Stadtwerke (ESTW), has assured the portal: “Security is our top priority.

If lightning strikes, it becomes extremely dangerous.”

"On Friday evening the storm was really violent," Batz told

.

Accordingly, the electronic sliding door was closed so that no new guests could enter the outdoor pool.

People who were still there were asked to leave the outdoor pool.

"But I think 'thrown out' is the wrong word," he reports.

“Our colleagues are very responsible.

That's why the pool was cleared."

Storm in Franconia: "It was an extreme situation"

Batz also appeals to the personal responsibility of the guests.

"If I notice that a storm is coming, I usually go home voluntarily - especially if there are children with me." The capacity is simply not enough for a shelter in storms, he reports to

infranken.de

.

"It was an extreme situation," explains the pool manager about the storm.

With regard to the eviction of the outdoor pool, he speaks of a "chain of unfortunate circumstances".

And further: "I've been with the Erlangen baths for 18 years now.

I've never seen anything like it before."
