Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, announced on Friday (May 27) that they had seized two Greek oil tankers in Gulf waters, shortly after protesting against Greece's seizure of a vessel carrying Iranian oil.

In a statement on their website, the Revolutionary Guards said that their naval forces had "
seized two Greek tankers today (...) because of violations they committed
".
The Greek Foreign Ministry has accused Iran of "
piracy
".

These acts amount to piracy
,” the ministry said in a statement, calling on Greek citizens to avoid traveling to Iran.
