After the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, posts began to be shared on social media falsely claiming the shooter was an immigrant in the United States illegally.
The publications also used an incorrect name when referring to the perpetrator of the massacre.

The post was flagged as part of Facebook's effort to combat fake news and misinformation on its platform.

But it is not true that the perpetrator of the massacre was an immigrant
.
The police identified the attacker as Salvador Ramos.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott indicated that he was a US citizen.

According to Abbott, the young man had no known criminal history or mental health issues.

In Tuesday's attack, 19 students and two teachers were killed.
Police responding to the scene killed the attacker.
