A 75-year-old disappears without a trace from a hospital.

A feverish search is made for him - until he reappears in a spectacular way.

Heidelberg – This missing person ended with a real happy ending: A 75-year-old man was initially reported missing in Heidelberg.

In the end, the pensioner was found in a Heidelberg hospital after surviving a spectacular ceiling crash.

According to the police, the senior had stayed in the Heidelberg University Hospital as a patient in the head clinic.

Heidelberg: 75-year-old is missing for twelve hours – then he crashes through the ceiling in a hospital

He has been missing since Tuesday evening (May 24).

A desperate search was made for the missing elderly gentleman.

According to the police report, the 75-year-old "left the neurosurgical ward in the head clinic around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening".

After that, the pensioner was “whereabouts unknown for a period of twelve hours”.

The investigations by the Heidelberg police revealed that he had lost his way in the hospital building.

The man was therefore only "descended to the basement of the clinic wing.

There he apparently got lost in the catacombs," it said.

Without orientation, the elderly gentleman "climbed over a ladder into the supply shafts about ten meters above and stayed there on Wednesday night in the false ceilings."

But the shaft could not withstand the man's weight permanently.

The senior broke "through the ceiling paneling of an adjoining room".

There, the hospital staff finally became aware of the missing person.

Previously, an intensive search "at all levels of the clinic" had been unsuccessful.

When he fell through the ceiling, the man was not injured thanks to his physical fitness.

Until the arrival of the fire brigade, he was able to "hold on and prevent himself from falling down".

The Heidelberg fire brigade finally freed him from his predicament.

According to the police, the temporarily missing man "was wearing a neck brace for stabilization because of a serious spinal injury (...).

If he hadn't clung to the ceiling while breaking through, worse health consequences from a fall could have occurred.

Miraculously, however, the pensioner was not injured in the fall.
