Three days of partying is the order of the day at the Penzberg town festival, which takes place from June 24th to 26th.

The city and the company Roche as organizers have come up with a varied programme.

Penzberg – A mayor and a plant manager of a large pharmaceutical company meet.

Topic of the conversation: How could the 50th anniversary of the group be celebrated in the city?

Roche plant manager Ulrich Opitz and Penzberg town hall manager Stefan Korpan quickly found the answer: the company's anniversary is to be celebrated with a town festival that Roche and town hall are jointly organizing.

Penzberg town festival: Roche is not just a sponsor this year, but a co-organiser

And as the concept that representatives of Roche and the city presented to the public on Wednesday shows, they didn't skimp on it.

Mayor Korpan described the three-day program as "very successful".

The mayor emphasized that the festival was not just intended to celebrate the company's anniversary.

After the “dramatic time” of the pandemic, it should also be a signal that joy and community are returning to life.

"It's the things that have to happen again," Korpan stressed.

Despite the war in Ukraine, life must go on here.

According to Roche spokeswoman Simone Hausladen, the festival should be a sign that the partnership between Roche and the city will continue in the future.

This partnership is also evident from the fact that Roche is co-organizer this year - unlike previous city festivals in 2013 or 2019 - and not just a sponsor.

"Creating the future together - Stadt.Fest.Spiele" is therefore the motto of the city festival, whose program comprises eight DINA 4 pages.

Of course, there should be a lot of celebration – but not only.

Because, according to City Hall spokesman Thomas Sendl, content should also be conveyed over the three days and “lasting” should be created.

Just like at previous festivals of this kind - for example in 2019, when the town twinning square was created.

The "Herzstück" project, in which the former waiting room in the train station is to be transformed into a "citizen's station", is intended to be "permanent" this year.

Citizens can participate in the creation of this new venue at a workshop as part of the city festival.

The open-air art exhibition "Fördern.Research.Progress", which deals with the change in the city, should also be something "lasting", said Sendl.

Penzberg town festival: Long night of shopping and a wide range of music

The festival is essentially characterized on all days by a broad music program in which a wide variety of bands will perform.

What they have in common: they all fit the style of the 1970s – according to Sendl, this is intended to commemorate the founding of Roche in 1972.

There are quite a few musical highlights, as the organizers emphasize;

such as the band "Night Fever" on Friday evening or the group "Groovin Affairs", which will perform at the Roch Rock Night.

This evening will also show who will win the city bet – Stadt or Roche.

According to Hausladen, details of the bet have not yet been determined.

According to Sendl, the city festival begins with a long night of shopping in the city centre.

Buildings will also be artistically illuminated, there will be walking acts and a street music festival.

Delegations from all five partner cities are expected at the town twinning matinee on Saturday, to which all interested parties are invited.

The highlight for the children is likely to be the big play festival on the Berghalde on Sunday.

Under the motto "Let's got retro", they want to revive the once legendary festivals of the past, according to city hall employee Monika Engel.

Clubs from the city would look after around 35 stations with nostalgic games;

such as sack races or throwing cans and much more.

There will be a bocker train and theater will be played.
