Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are now frozen by a decision of the regime in Kyiv and according to the approach chosen by him.
"The Ukrainian leadership in general constantly makes statements that contradict each other, which does not allow us to fully understand what it clearly wants and whether it is ready to take a sober approach and realize the real situation on the ground," Peskov said at a press conference today.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had earlier expressed doubts about the sincerity of Kyiv's desire to find a peaceful solution to the current situation in Ukraine.
Commenting on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's proposal to create a (European Association) that includes a number of countries, Peskov stressed that such a proposal could undermine the position of the European Union and means that Johnson creates a league of friends to undermine the position of the European Union.
And the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera quoted British sources as saying that Johnson offered to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky the formation of a “European League” led by the United Kingdom and with the membership of Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to confront Russia.
Regarding the holding of the Eurasian Economic Conference, Peskov stressed that the economic war that the West started against Russia and Belarus will not prevent further integration into the Eurasian Economic Union.
Peskov explained that the integration model is very advanced and continues to be developed, noting that the existence of difficulties related to the economic war against two Eurasian Economic Union members will not prevent the development and strengthening of this cooperation.
Peskov pointed out that the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in general is one of the most advanced forms of integration in the Eurasian space.
