The President of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin announced that more than 5 thousand prisoners of war of extremist Ukrainian militants are present on the territory of the republic.
"If we talk about the last militants of the Azov battalion that surrendered in Azovstal, they numbered 2,439 people, and before that there were about 3,000 people, so the total number of prisoners is more than 5,000," Pushilin said in a statement today, according to RIA Novosti.
In addition, Pushilin stated that preliminary information indicates the presence of foreign mercenaries among the Ukrainian Nazis who surrendered after Russian forces surrounded them in the Azovstal factory in Mariupol, pointing out that 6 gunmen were killed in Azovstal while trying to detonate ammunition depots before seizing them.
