Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that pressure exerted by unfriendly countries on Russia is tantamount to aggression against it.
"The advantages of integration are especially evident now in the current difficult international situation and in the face of practical aggression on the part of a number of countries that are not friendly to us," Putin said in a speech today at a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council.
Putin stressed that despite the complex global situation and the confrontation launched by the so-called collective West and its attempt to put obstacles to prevent Eurasian integration, the world's interest in cooperation with the countries of the Union is increasing, pointing to the existence of negotiations to conclude a free trade zone agreement with Iran, which will replace the interim agreement of 2018.
Putin pointed out that the economic work within the Council is proceeding in an orderly manner, and that close integration between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will allow the economies of these countries to become stronger and more independent, explaining that the relevant bodies are removing all obstacles affecting the movement of goods and capital between the countries of the Union.
Putin indicated that the volume of trade exchange between the EU countries reached $72.6 billion last year, indicating that to bypass the effects of Western sanctions, national currencies will be dealt with, in addition to a number of other measures.
