The municipality of Moosinning was able to complete another construction site: on Wednesday, the Sonnenstraße was reopened to traffic after the extensive renovation.
Moosinning
- There had been some delays compared to the original planning, but not due to lack of execution.
On the contrary, there were a few surprises underground, in some cases the more than 60-year-old water pipes could no longer be found, and the Bleichbach running under the road did not make things any easier, said Mayor Georg Nagler at the opening.
Because in addition to the road renovation, all connections, in addition to the water, those for gas, electricity or Internet via fiber optics, should also be brought up to date.
Two years ago, the community came up with the idea of upgrading Sonnenstrasse, Nagler said: "We then invited all residents to an event and presented them with two concepts." others a clear improvement in terms of urban planning.
The citizens supported the latter – and it was worth it.
The executive planner Günther Theil explained the newly gained advantages.
The parking bays would prevent wild parking, which would also slow down traffic on Sonnenstraße somewhat due to their entanglements.
In addition, the sidewalk was upgraded, Nagler explained: "Unfortunately, the street wasn't wide enough for a combined footpath and cycle path." The cyclists must continue to ride on the street, but on the brand-new asphalt on the approximately 300-meter-long route Route.
Renovation of the Sonnenstrasse costs the municipality of Moosinning around 400,000 euros
The construction project cost the municipality around 400,000 euros – not counting the underground sections.
The mayor emphasized that this is within the scope of the initial estimates.
Public participation was important: "We had the local residents on board from the start, and during construction the company Schelle was always ready to provide information." but with every construction project, and after a short time everyone showed understanding.”
The conclusion of the mayor after the completion of the renovation, which began in September 2021, was: "We are all very satisfied, and with Sonnenstraße we now have a new jewel in our community."
