Russia's Deputy Agriculture Minister Andrei Razin described the accusations against his country that it caused an imminent global famine as "fake".
In response to these accusations, Razin told reporters today, "We have a lot of stories and falsehoods that are used very often.. This is another attempt to blame Russia and distort the objective image around us."
He pointed out that his country is a reliable partner and is doing everything in its power to ensure the stability of the food situation not only in Russia, but also in foreign markets.
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned earlier of the consequences of Western sanctions on Russia and said: It will lead to a full international food crisis with the possibility of famine in some countries.
