Mercedes-Benz is again struggling with difficulties with its vehicles.
Popular models such as the GLE or the C-Class are affected.
Washington - The carmaker Mercedes-Benz has to fix a software problem in almost 235,000 cars in the USA.
According to the company, certain vehicles in many classes are affected, such as the CLA, GLA, GLE, GLS, A and C built between 2017 and 2022. There are also almost 20,000 vans and smaller vans such as the Sprinter built between 2019 and 2021, according to documents , which were published on the Internet by the US Transportation Administration NHTSA on Friday.
According to this, an error in the SIM card software of the vehicles' communication module could cause problems with mobile network access and thus switch off the emergency call system.
The problem is to be solved with a software update that is to be installed via a mobile connection or at a dealer.
Mercedes-Benz: Over a million vehicles in the current year alone
As recently as mid-May, Mercedes had recalled a good 292,000 older vehicles to the workshops in the USA because of potential brake problems.
At the beginning of the year, the premium manufacturer recalled 800,000 vehicles to workshops worldwide.
The reason was leaks in diesel vehicles.
