The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, called for the need to unite world powers against the unilateral policies of the United States of America.
During his meeting with the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council Nikolai Patrushev on the sidelines of the regional security dialogue session on Afghanistan in the Tajik capital, Shamkhani called for the necessity of establishing strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow to confront the unilateral US policies.
He considered that making a qualitative leap in cooperation and economic relations between the two sides is one of the most important dimensions of relations, and said: laying the foundations for coexistence in light of the embargo and turning sanctions into an opportunity to strengthen the productive and internal economy is essential.
Shamkhani added: The development of cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the provision of joint financial, banking and customs mechanisms among the members of the organization is one of the important measures that can prevent the impact of illegal sanctions on economic and trade relations between the member states of the organization.
Shamkhani touched on the West's attempts to occupy Russia in the Ukraine crisis and reduce its interests in other issues, and said that some countries are taking advantage of the Ukraine crisis to follow up on the implementation of their expansionist plans in the region and pass their goals to what must be confronted.
Shamkhani expressed his concern about the situation in Afghanistan and the continued presence of various terrorist groups in the country.
