(CNN) —

An 11-year-old survivor of the Robb Elementary School massacre in Uvalde, Texas, feared the shooter would come back for her, so she smeared the blood on one of her classmates and played dead.

Miah Cerrillo spoke exclusively to CNN about his horrific experience that day inside the classroom where the mass shooting occurred.

Miah and her classmates were watching the movie "Lilo and Stitch" in Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia's classroom when the teachers learned that there was an attacker in the building, she told the "New Day" program of CNN.

One of the teachers went to lock the door, but Miah says the attacker was right there and fired through the window in the door.

She described that the massacre happened very quickly: her teacher entered the classroom and the attacker followed her.

The girl said that the attacker looked one of her teachers in her eyes, said "good night" and then shot him.

He opened fire, shooting the other teacher and many of Miah's friends, who said bullets flew past her, fragments hitting her shoulders and head.

The girl was later treated at the hospital and released for minor injuries.

Miah said that after shooting students in his class, the suspect walked through a door into an adjoining classroom.

And he heard screaming, and the sound of gunshots in that classroom.

However, after the shooting stopped, he says the attacker started playing music, sad music.

She described the music as the kind where you "want people to die."

The girl and a friend managed to get hold of her dead teacher's phone and call 911 for help.

"Please send help because we are in trouble," said the girl who told the operator.

Miah said she was afraid the attacker would return to her classroom to kill her and some other surviving friends.

So, she dipped her hands in the blood of a classmate, who was lying next to her, already deceased, and then smeared her blood to play dead.

The girl also said she felt like she was there for three hours with her friends, covered in her classmate's blood.

She told CNN that she assumed at the time that police had not yet arrived at the scene of the massacre.

She then recounted hearing about the police waiting outside the school.

As she told this part of the story during the interview, she began to cry and said that she just didn't understand why they didn't go in and rescue them.

Miah's mother revealed that her daughter is traumatized.

The girl's parents started a GoFundMe specifically to pay for her therapy.

Miah was too scared to speak on camera, or to a man, because of what she experienced, but she wanted to share her story so people can learn what it's like to experience a school shooting.

She says that she hopefully can help prevent a tragedy like this from happening to other children.
