Shorouk Al-Masry combined archery and equestrianism, so she excelled in their championships, and is highly relied upon to win brilliant medals at the external level, according to the supervisors of the two games.

Al-Masry, 16, who grew up in a family that loved equestrian and was distinguished by its championships, said in a statement to SANA, “I started practicing the sport of my fathers and grandfathers (equestrian) since my childhood in the Police Club, a sport that I inherited from my father and grandfather, and three years ago I started practicing bow and arrow in Al-Fayhaa Sports City in Damascus to learn Its principles correctly as a first step to implement it later on horseback, which is the sport practiced by the father of the jockey, Lieutenant Colonel Mahmoud Al-Masry, in which he achieved advanced positions, including the first place in the world championship in Iran in 2021.

Al-Masry added, "Due to the fact that archery is closely related to equestrianism throughout history, I loved to combine these two sports despite the difficulty of this matter because it imposes a multiplicity and different places of training, but my love for them and the encouragement of parents and coaches overcome these difficulties and began to achieve results after another in both local and foreign championships."

And Al-Masry continued, "One of my most prominent results in the bow sport this year is to achieve first place in the Republic Championship, and I recently participated in the Arab Championship in the Republic of Mauritania, and achieved five gold, two silver and two bronze medals." The major ones, including the Loyalty Championship, the Al-Aghar Championship, the Army Championship, and the Damascus Championship.”

Al-Masry concluded her speech, “My ambition is great to reach the global podiums in equestrian and archery, and I will spare no effort to achieve this goal, wishing the Archery Federation to provide the necessary equipment for archery permanently so that we can continue training in order to reach the level qualified to compete in external tournaments and win bright medals.”
