Germering – Almost exactly a year after the first talks with the city of Germering about the photovoltaic system at the Kleiner Muck kindergarten and seven months after the founding of the Bürger-Energiegenossenschaft Sonnensegler eG, the project has been sealed with the signing of the contracts.
If everything goes according to plan, a photovoltaic system with a peak output of 50 kilowatts will be in operation on the roof of the kindergarten until the summer break, saving 23 tons of CO2, which corresponds to the equivalent of 1,060 planted trees.
Third Mayor
Sophie Schuhmacher (Greens) was pleased that the first solar sail system was being implemented with the city of Germering.
"It's great that we are role models and pioneers." The energy cooperative's commitment to sustainability is important and relieves the city administration in implementing the city's climate goals.
"It's good that the cooperative has taken the initiative." Pastor Michael Lorenz, deputy chairman of the cooperative, hopes for follow-up projects in the near future.
“We will examine further projects together with the city.
The recently presented
energy
use plan of the city offers many possibilities for this.” Participation of the citizens is important for success, especially in larger projects such as free-field systems, wind energy and geothermal energy.
In addition, Lorenz hopes that Germering will become the impetus for other municipalities in the district to improve their own climate balance with the sun sails, to become more energetically independent and to save energy costs.
The citizen energy cooperative Sonnensegler was founded in October 2021 and now has over 120 members and seven local groups in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck.
