(CNN Spanish) --
The Congress of Peru censored this Thursday the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Betssy Chávez Chino, for which she must resign from her position, according to a statement from the Legislative Power.
According to the statement, Chávez showed "lack of capacity and serious negligence in his management at the head of his sector, which constitutes a serious political responsibility."
The censorship —promoted by legislators from Fuerza Popular, Alianza Para el Progreso, Avanza País, Renovación Popular and not grouped— was approved with 71 votes in favor, several from the ruling party Peru Libre itself, 28 against and 12 abstentions.

Under the Peruvian constitution, President Pedro Castillo must now accept Chavez's resignation within 72 hours.
Later he must appoint his replacement.
As of Thursday, Chavez had not commented on the censorship and CNN is still trying to contact her for comment.
Last week, the then official told the national press, regarding her motion of censure, that "finally, I am a passing bird. Other people will surely succeed me in office at some point, and they have to continue with the workers' defense policy," according to the state-run Agencia Andina.

This is the third time that the Peruvian Congress has censured a minister since Castillo took office in July 2021. In March, the then head of Health, Hernán Condori Machado, was forced to resign after a majority of legislators determined his “lack of suitability and capacity for the exercise of the position”.
In December 2021, the then Minister of Education, Carlos Gallardo, was also forced to resign after being accused of having leaked answers to teacher evaluation exams -something he rejected- and of allegedly being linked to extreme leftist groups connected to Shining Path, something that Gallardo also denied.
