The premiere had to wait two years.

Now the time had come: The Holzkirchner Ballet School staged the production "Dream Theater - a theater comes to life".

Miesbach/Holzkirchen – The four performances in the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach were almost all sold out with 400 guests each.

The two-hour dance-theater flew by, the applause didn't want to end, and tears of emotion flowed in the audience.

The head of the ballet school, Isabella Winkler, has created a colourful, funny and creative, but also romantic and touching production.

Around 350 ballet students are part of the story about the adult dancer Leni, who falls asleep after a ballet lesson.

When she wakes up again, she is suddenly a child who sees all sorts of funny things: living curtains and opera glasses, freaky box offices and hard-working cleaning crews.

After each encounter she gets a little older again, until at the end of the performance she is the Leni from the beginning again.

More than 30 groups showed their skills in the Waitzinger cellar.

Various forms part of the show

Since the Holzkirchner Ballet School also teaches hip hop, jazz and modern dance in addition to classical dance, these forms were also integrated into the show.

There was great concentration among the little girls who were doing doves.

Each of the five- to six-year-old girls had a feather in their hair and knew exactly what the next position was.

The 13 dancers looked gorgeous in pink ballet dresses.

They danced with full body tension and the synchronicity worked well.

Shortly after they fluttered off the stage, a cute crew of cleaners came out with straw brooms to sweep the lost feathers off the stage floor.

Long applause.

It went on in quick succession.

Umbrellas were also brought to life, they danced to Frank Sinatra's "Singin' in the Rain", oversized raindrops appeared on the big screen behind the stage and bubbled away.

The umbrellas of the 14 little dancers were rolled and turned in a controlled manner, sometimes with the tip on the ground, sometimes pointing towards the ceiling, they were opened and closed again until a storm whirled everyone upside down.

Preparations in the pandemic more difficult

The mini-conductors in lilac ballet bodices also enchanted the audience.

Ten girls, all in classical ballet buns, danced to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

They are masters of the ballet postures, and on their small faces the spectators could see joy and pride dancing along.

Opera glasses followed, represented by 14- to 17-year-olds, seven- to 9-year-old mice twirling across the stage, 11- to 13-year-old porters, and the adult dancers presented themselves in the form of technicians.

The family members in the hall gave a lot of applause, and here and there handkerchiefs were dug out of the pocket with emotion.

Isabella Winkler's ballet school has been in Holzkirchen since 2012.

Since then there have been five performances.

"I could really cry with happiness.

All these children and adults went through the Corona period with me.

We had to postpone it several times, danced online and met and now we're all standing here," said the clearly moved headmistress after the lovingly and professionally designed staging.

Speaking of her own experience, nine-year-old Mathilda said: “I really enjoy dancing because you can spend time with other people and learn something new.

It's very exciting in front of an audience, we were all looking forward to it.”
