Vacationers collapsed in the cable car: dramatic moments at the Herzogstand

On Father's Day, rescue workers from the Walchensee water rescue service fought for the life of a 71-year-old who had collapsed in a cabin on the Herzogstandbahn.
They expressly praise the behavior of passers-by at the scene of the accident.
Walchensee – Dramatic moments took place shortly after 1 p.m. in a cabin on the Herzogstandbahn on the Ascension Day holiday.
As reported by the Walchensee water rescue service, a vacationer (71) from Marl (North Rhine-Westphalia) collapsed in the mountain railway.
"We fought for his life," reports Lisa Grünwald from the water rescue service.
The volunteers were on site quickly because the water rescue station is in the immediate vicinity.
However, Grünwald expressly praises the exemplary behavior of two passers-by who were in the cabin and immediately began to resuscitate and ventilate the vacationer.
Transport by helicopter is not possible
The man had been at the duke's estate with his wife.
On the way down he suddenly collapsed.
The ambulance stationed in Krün and the Christoph 1 helicopter were also called.
However, because the patient was being treated continuously, he could not be flown to the clinic by helicopter.
The ambulance then took him to the hospital in Garmisch.
The lifeguard took care of the shocked wife.
More missions
On Wednesday, too, the water guards at Lake Walchensee went on two missions ashore: In Urfeld, a holidaymaker (80) fell on the premises of a hotel and briefly became unconscious.
She came to the hospital.
During this operation, the helpers were asked for help by a young couple on holiday.
The woman had a fishbone stuck in her throat.
"Unfortunately, we couldn't help her," says Grünwald.
The couple then went to the hospital.
