Kyiv - At the beginning of the escalated Ukraine conflict, there was still public talk of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

When the atrocities in the Kiev suburb of Bucha, which are attributed to Russia, became known, the negotiations were officially suspended, and nothing more was known of further talks in public.

For the Ukrainian negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak, a negotiated solution with Russia under Vladimir Putin is still not in sight.

He wrote this on his Telegram channel on Saturday.

"Sometimes some of our partners ask the question: shouldn't we try to negotiate with Russia at the negotiating table?" Podolyak wrote on Saturday morning.

And further: "This proposal is based on the hypothesis that it is like in business conflicts: you can agree on compromises, resolve the dispute and return to your old life."

According to its chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, Russia was ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine in mid-May.

The ball is in the field of Ukraine, at whose instigation the talks were suspended.
