"Structure and Quartering": Kerstin Ott speaks openly about her life in a foster family

Actually, Kerstin Ott (private life and sudden singing career - that's how the painter became a hit star) is a very private person, but at the MDR Riverboat she talks openly about her family life.

The pop singer reveals that her experiences as a foster child shape her own upbringing style.

"In my first foster family I got a lot of structure, unfortunately a bit too much, so that it was almost only about structure and barracks and nobody hugged me," says Kerstin Ott.

After a time full of strict rules, Kerstin Ott got to know a completely different everyday life in her second foster family.

"In the second foster family it was friendlier and softer and I think both shaped me and how I deal with the children," she said.

Guests at the RIVERBOAT Berlin on May 13 are: Bettina Tietjen, Anna Schudt, Martin Brambach, Kerstin Ott, Barbara Schöne, Alvaro Soler and Lieselotte Reznicek.

"Opposites attract": Kerstin Ott gives private insights into her marriage

And if Kerstin Ott (the most successful German pop singer of all time) ever talks about private sewing, moderator Sebastian Fitzek wants to know more about it.

"'Like attracts' or 'opposites attract'.

How would you define your relationship?”.

"Opposites attract," answers Kerstin Ott without hesitation.

They agree on many issues.

"But we also have topics, that's where we really get down to business".

For example when driving a car.

"If I'm a skittish co-driver that day, then I'm very scared and I swear too.

If she doesn't have that much patience with me, then it can get tricky."

“Works mediocre”: Kerstin Ott reveals idiosyncratic upbringing method

But Kerstin Ott and her Karolina also take two different courses when it comes to nutrition.

"I always say to the kids: If you want to look like me, you have to eat what I eat.

If you want to look like your mom, then you have to eat it," jokes Kerstin Ott.

"Karolina eats a lot healthier than me," she adds.

"Of course, that's also an educational method," Sebastian Fitzek is amazed.

Kerstin Ott laughs: "It works mediocre".

But Kerstin Ott not only spoke about her marriage, but also about her childhood.

The pop singer did not have it easy in the past: she grew up in a home and in foster families.

These experiences have left a deep mark on Kerstin Ott to this day.
