The group of countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the American Continent (ALBA) stressed the need to increase solidarity and cooperation among them to confront US interference in the affairs of Latin American countries and the economic challenges resulting from unilateral coercive measures.
In the final statement of the twenty-first summit of its countries, which concluded in the Cuban capital, Havana, in the presence of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Bolivian President Luis Arce, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, and the heads and foreign ministers of the member states, the group expressed its rejection of the US policy towards the coalition countries, which constitute Clear violations of the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
The statement demanded respect for the right of self-determination of peoples, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of each country, calling for unity in the face of US attempts to create divisions within the bloc's countries.
The statement expressed the solidarity of ALBA countries with Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua in the face of the discriminatory policies practiced by the United States against them, stressing that the failure of the US administration to invite these countries to participate in the Summit of the Americas that will be held in Los Angeles "constitutes a dangerous historical precedent and an abuse of relations with the peoples of Latin America and the region Caribbean Sea".
The statement reiterated the Bolivarian Alliance countries' rejection of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela and Nicaragua and the economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba, pointing out that these measures constitute a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
For his part, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stressed at the conclusion of the summit the importance of unity in order to defend the sovereignty of the Bolivarian coalition countries, calling for commitment to follow the policy of mutual respect and rejection of foreign dictates and exclusionary policies.
