Luttenwang – disposable tableware, straws and drinking cups made of plastic will soon be a thing of the past.
In order to reduce plastic waste and protect the seas, the EU Parliament has introduced a ban on disposable products.
But what to do with the food from the butcher's snack bar if disposable food boxes are banned?
Master butcher Bernhard Huber presented the packaging ordinance that will apply from January 1, 2023 to his members at his first annual general meeting in Luttenwang.
Although consumers can currently still insist on disposable tableware, from 2023 all providers of to-go meals will be obliged to offer a reusable option as an alternative to disposable packaging.
Huber presented the members with a reusable deposit system from a company that has included specific containers in its program especially for the butcher trade.
For a deposit of five euros, the consumer then receives his food from the “warm counter”.
Recognition for 15 years as senior master
Huber's predecessor, Engelbert Jais, received a certificate and a silver pin from the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria in recognition of his 15-year activity as master master.
In his first report as Obermeister, Huber highlighted the special support of the Bavarian Butchers' Association during the corona pandemic.
It was fantastic how quickly the association informed the guilds about the latest legal requirements.
"Sometimes we received the emails with the latest regulations in the middle of the night."
The members accepted the increase in membership fee announced by Huber through the professional association, which became necessary due to a switch to the basic fee and additional fee.
However, the increase also means that the guild contribution will increase.
Höfelsauer talks about the corona pandemic and the Ukraine war
District master craftsman Franz Höfelsauer addressed the cost explosion in the butcher trade caused by the corona pandemic and the Ukraine war in his welcoming address.
The shortage of skilled workers continued to cause problems for the handicraft businesses.
He is pleased that after a two-year break, the first acquittal ceremony can be held in person on September 13th.
