For an hour, the Homs audience listened to the classics of world music with a contemporary vision presented by the Orpheus Orchestra, led by Maestro Andre Al-Maalouli, and with the participation of pianist Lynne Janad, at the Culture Palace in Homs.
The evening program, which was distributed by Narek Obejian, carried a variety of choral and musical pieces performed by 40 male and female musicians.
It included the Fifth Symphony, Forelles, Sonata No. 17 by Beethoven, in addition to Symphony 40 by Mozart, Hungarian Dance, and Dark Ice from the Russian heritage.
The group’s percussion instruments, such as drums, conga, timpani and bass guitar, harmonized with the orchestra consisting of strings, brass, woodwind and saxophone to form the basic structure of symphonic melodies by merging classical music with Latin music and jazz
Accompanied by the piano, which played the starring role, along with the accompanying artistic lighting, which added an aesthetic special to its integrated role with music.
Twelve choir singers also participated in some pieces by singing in Russian and French.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, the founder of the orchestra, Maestro Maalouli, indicated that the concert is being presented for the first time in Homs and is the outcome of a new musical experience to present symphonic music from the World Library with a visual musical vision that mimics the era by approaching serious music to a style close to the audience and thus attracting it towards music that carries thought by mixing it with jazz and music Latin.
Pianist Lynn Jannad pointed out that the work represents a special vision that she worked on for years to combine two types of music by choosing international pieces and mixing them with Latin to obtain a musical result closer to the audience today and to become a mixture of several musical styles and announce the birth of a new musical style, indicating that the work is considered the first at the level Syria and the Arab world.
