The Holzkirchner Kultur im Oberbräu has got a digital twin: It enables a virtual stroll through the house - not just as a technical gimmick, but with concrete utility.

Holzkirchen

– step into the sacred artist’s dressing room or even look down from the stage into the rows of chairs: Kultur im Oberbräu now gives you the opportunity to do so.

Focus 3D GmbH has created a digital twin of the community's cultural center.

You can take a virtual stroll through the building on your smartphone, tablet or PC – across three floors and into all rooms.

"Now people can also look behind the scenes," says Alexander Harlander, who is responsible for public relations at Kultur im Oberbräu.

The application on the cultural center's homepage offers completely new insights.

The dollhouse view shows the entire building at a glance.

Intuitively you can go anywhere.

More than a technical gimmick: an interactive tool that immediately serves the right services.

Test seats and book tickets

You can take a seat in the Fools Theater or in the festival hall and see what the view of the stage is like – and book your seats online right away.

You can use the menu at the counter of the culture café to look through the current menu or reserve a seat at the table.

You can subscribe to the newsletter via posters on the wall.

In contrast to similar applications, including Google Street View, the whole thing runs smoothly, which significantly improves orientation.

The data volume is "not that huge," says Schönrock, about ten gigabytes.

The application itself is cloud-based and is therefore lean.

Behind this is a lot of work and equipment, which the start-up Focus 3D brought to the site.

"We scanned for ten hours in one day," reports Lukas Schönrock, who was just 21 years old and the founder and managing director of the company.

The laser scanner scanned the structures at 1370 points in the building.

A 3D infrared camera alone weighing three and a half kilos was used for the depth recordings.

"The depth measurement also enables dimensioning," explains Schönrock - for even more utility: artists and agencies are supplied with the stage dimensions, conference planners can see how they can distribute guests, groups can see whether the rehearsal room is suitable for their purposes.

"A different kind of spatial feeling," says Schönrock.

There is a "wedding tour" especially for bridal couples, which shows the hall with wedding seating.

"It will save us one or two visits," says Harlander.

Young company founder sees great potential in technology

The company Fokus 3D, founded in April 2021, is based in Grünwald.

But the young founder and managing director comes from Valley and attended secondary school and FOS in the market town.

Korbinian Endler, one of Schönrock's three partners, comes from Holzkirchen.

The culture center of the market town is of course known to them.

In Holzkirchen they have already "digitized" a flower shop, a mountain sports shop and a fitness studio.

But the culture in the Oberbräu is a different house number.

Schönrock sees the project as a calling card.

With the price, which he and Harlander do not want to comment on more precisely than that it was in the four-digit range, the municipal institution was accommodated to a large extent.

Schönrock believes that Focus 3D still has a lot of potential.

For marketing real estate, for example, or in the hospitality industry.

The possibilities are not exhausted for the cultural center either: A connection to augmented reality would be conceivable.

The first step into a new dimension.
