The journey to Jerusalem via Sudan is an important chapter in the history of our people • About seven years ago, a "story on the road" was established, and hundreds of members of the community volunteer to tell the important chapter, without which our stories are incomplete

Many practices have been taken by Ethiopian Jews to preserve their Judaism, our longing for Jerusalem has surpassed us all.

Every year at the end of Mr. Cheshvan, as the status of Israel in Sinai, so did Beta-Israel stand at the foot of a high mountain with its face and eyes married to Zion.

At the Sigd holiday, we expressed the silverware of the purpose of the silver for Jerusalem, which is not a distant memory but the living longings of an object of life.

For centuries, passion has pulsed, not only as a desire for prayer but also as a practical engine for the establishment of Ofra.

About 160 years ago, in parallel with the awakening of our brethren in Europe and in the lands of Islam, Case Father arose from the mountains and called for the return of Zion.

As the saying goes "do not dream, immigrate".

Hundreds of people from Beta Israel were called to the flag of aliyah that he placed.

Like Moses in his generation, he sought to bring them out of "Egypt" and indeed, nothing delayed, no mountains, no valleys - with the longing of Jerusalem in their hearts, to mark a bull.

Even when they reached a wide river they did not say enough and as Nachshon jumped into the water, but it did not split in two and hundreds found their deaths in their lust.

It was the death of the body, and their desire to mark Janna perished - from Sigd's hand they stood at the foot of the mountain and vowed to return to Jerusalem.

Father Mahari was succeeded by Farda Aklum, my mother's cousin, who in 1979 led them back to Zion.

Jerusalem, he knew, was no longer a dream because in 1958 our country was established.

When he sent his bread across the water, he sent a letter to the Mossad asking for relief in raising Beta-Israel.

In his seat in France, he did not know if he would be tortured by scrolls.

But not an hour to deliver, and at the same time, he sent a letter to his brother in Ethiopia, shared his vision and asked them to meet him at a designated time and place in Sudan - read and come, their passion increased in them.

With Jerusalem in their hearts, even the drowning tragedy did not dissuade their tens of thousands from climbing the wall, the journey set out and the institution joined - neither the heat, the rocks and the desert animals could satisfy their desire.

On their men and their wives, Tapi and their elders navigated their journey, from camp to camp until it was completed.

Because when Israel, their country, alongside Jerusalem and in their hearts, also sacrificed about 4,000 victims of the journey did not stop.

My family in the pioneers and among the fallen of the journey was my mother, who could not endure the hardships of the road to her spirit.

At the age of six months, I was orphaned, and at the waiting camp, the Red Cross offered to send me for adoption in France.

"She will have a good life," but my father matured: "Jerusalem," and nothing more, and with the Mossad I was sent to Israel.

Together with my aunt, who is my mother, I arrived in Israel and was hospitalized until my recovery.

Two years later I reunited with my father and brothers, who were convinced that I had not survived, and at the end of five years the journey was completed after which the aliyah operations began - "Shay around your eyes and see, everyone has gathered and come to you".

The journey to Jerusalem via Sudan is an important chapter in the history of our people, and the time has come for it to be told.

Fifteen years ago, the state began the work of repair and set Jerusalem Day today as a state memorial for those who fell on a journey through Sudan, how symbolic.

There is a ceremony and a witness-wave, but even stones with a human heart will not replace the duty of the West Bank.

About seven years ago, a "story on the road" was established, and hundreds of members of the community, myself included, volunteer to tell each ear the important chapter, without which our stories are incomplete.

An episode of passion and longing, a choice and sacrifice, an episode of Yina Jerusalem that has not yet reached its episode - open your heart and listen, this is also your story.
