The paving on Sonnenstraße has become a dangerous mogul slope over the years.

Now a part of the western section between the sun pharmacy and the student pilot crossing is to be "renovated".

The findings from this should flow into a comprehensive planning concept.

Peißenberg – In the current budget, the municipality has set aside 20,000 euros for the creation of a renovation concept for Sonnenstrasse.

As City Hall employee Thomas Schamper explained at the most recent market council meeting, the budget will now flow into the first construction project.

A part of the Sonnenstraße between the Sonnenapotheke and the school pilot crossing in the area of St. Barbara's Church will become a kind of "test track".

Background: In order to prepare a planning concept, you would need at least a soil report.

Schamper, who is responsible for civil engineering in the town hall, wants to base the renovation on a much broader planning basis.

For this reason, the paving in the “test section” is to be removed to a length of 35 meters and temporarily stored.

After that, it is planned to remove the layer of chippings and to dig an excavation pit.

The gravel structure could be the cause

Schamper has a pretty concrete guess as to why the Sonnenstrasse has developed into a mogul piste over the years: "I'm sure that the gravel structure doesn't fit." It is only questionable whether only the layered structures are defective or also the subsoil: "It will probably be a combination of both,” speculates Schamper.

It may be sufficient to remove the frost protection gravel to 20 centimeters.

In the worst case, you have to excavate the ground up to 30 centimeters.

The "trial renovation" should either take place during the Pentecost or summer holidays - "otherwise the chaos would be too big," says Schamper.

After the construction work on the substructure of the road, the section is to be paved again - but only over a length of 25 meters.

Asphalting is planned for the school pilot crossing.

Criticism of the plan came only from Katrin Neumayr (AfD)

The findings of the first renovation phase on the "test track" should in turn flow into an overall concept.

The costs can also be calculated more easily: "We then know exactly what to expect," explained Schamper in the market council.

In autumn he wants to present the overall plan to the committee.

The market council agreed with Schamper's restructuring schedule.

Georg Hutter (CSU/non-party) spoke of a "very practical approach" and Annette Daiber (Greens) of a "very good idea" - also with regard to the fact that the plaster will be preserved.

Only Katrin Neumayr (AfD) expressed concerns.

The paving is "really nice", but produces noise to the chagrin of the residents: "Asphalt is much quieter and cheaper, and paving always suppresses it," argued Neumayr.

Matthias Bichlmayr (Greens) objected: "The paving is visually a beautiful element." And because of the noise: "You could just drive less by car."
