The Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos) revealed that the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China on the establishment of the joint scientific lunar station project is ready for signing.
"The intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of Moscow and Beijing for the project of the scientific lunar station is almost ready to be signed, and some technical details are currently being discussed," TASS news agency quoted the company's general director, Dmitry Rogozin, as saying.
In June of last year, Roscosmos and the Chinese Space Administration presented a roadmap for the establishment of the International Scientific Lunar Station, which is planned to be completed by 2035.
The Russian and Chinese sides plan to send, between 2026 and 2030, two lunar missions to test the technology of landing on the surface of the moon and transfer the payload there, as well as transfer samples of moon rocks to Earth. Between 2031 and 2035, the infrastructure of the station will be deployed in the orbit and on the surface of the moon.
