The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that the Admiral Gorshkov frigate in the Barents Sea has successfully launched a high-precision hypersonic missile (Tsirkon).
Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the frigate Admiral Gorshkov is in the Barents Sea, noting that the missile hit a target at a distance of about 1,000 kilometers in the White Sea in northern Russia.
The statement added, "The launch of this missile came as part of a new test that ended successfully."
Several successful tests have already been conducted to launch a high-precision Tsirkon missile, the last of which was on the 29th of last November, when the Admiral Gorshkov frigate launched a missile at a target 400 km away in the White Sea as well.
