Simultaneously with the celebrations of the unification of the city of Jerusalem and the flag parade at the Nablus Gate, the coalition member, MK Musi Raz of the Meretz party, and MK Aida Toma-Suleiman from the joint list, initiated a lobby meeting to mark the "55 years of occupation" .
The lobby meeting will convene on Wednesday with the participation of a number of well-known left-wing organizations including: Breaking the Silence, Yesh Din, the Committee Against Torture, HaMoked, Fighters for Peace, Physicians for Human Rights, Gisha, Emek Shaveh, Rabbis for Human Rights and more.
"For 55 years we have been controlling, contrary to our own morals, justice and interest, over another people," says MK Musi Raz, who initiated the lobby.
He added: "This control affects all areas of life of the Palestinian people, and rises for both peoples in life and security. This is probably the most important issue for our lives here, so it should be heard and discussed within the Knesset. Thank you to human rights organizations
MK Aida Toma-Suleiman said: "Land grabbing, settlement expansion, settler terrorism, unlawful arrests, killing of protesters and criminal siege.
This is the face of the occupation.
This is Israel's face even under the "government of change."
From the Knesset, we must remind Israel and the world that the cycle of terror will not end as long as the Palestinian people live under occupation and siege.
Only the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel will ensure freedom and security for both peoples. "
