Former municipal councillors, former mayor Hans Peis, former head of the children's home Beate Tilge and long-standing building yard employee Jim Kaiser were honored in a ceremony.

Oberneuching

- A big festival with many invited guests: That hasn't happened in the municipality of Neuching for a long time.

With a two-year Corona delay, the resigned municipal councillors, who had belonged to the committee until 2020, and former mayor Hans Peis were now invited to the Eventstadl.

With this "handover party", the work of the old municipal council was symbolically handed over to the new body.

And also symbolically, Peis passed the baton on to his successor Thomas Bartl.

"Thank you for everything you have done for the community of Neuching.

Even if I've never said it publicly, I do consider you my political foster father," said Bartl to Peis, who was mayor from 2002 to 2020.

He is still active in the working group for seniors and social affairs and in the planning of "1250 years of Neuching Synod".

"It was always a lot of fun for me", Peis reviewed his time as mayor and thanked everyone "who supported me in the 18 years".

So it was also clear that he honored "his" local councillors, who retired in 2020.

He particularly emphasized that there had always been a friendly relationship within the committee, despite differing views.

Andreas Kroh was there from 2008 to 2020, "the favorite of potential mothers-in-law," said Peis with a smile.

Kroh is now a father of two and was the king of votes in the 2014 election.

He was particularly distinguished by the fact that he meticulously prepared for meetings and often asked the town hall.

Josef Waldherr was also involved from 2008 to 2020 and attracted attention with his “unconventional suggestions and ideas”.

Martin Wittmann enriched the municipal council from 2008 to 2019 and had to resign due to illness.

“He was a great support because of his diverse interests.

And in heated discussions, he calmed things down with a factual suggestion,” said Peis.

With Nicole Hermansdorfer and Monika Mair, two women left the committee in 2020.

In January 2014, Hermansdorfer replaced Otto Hainz, who was then the manager of the building yard.

Mair had contributed from 2014 to 2020.

Both would have provided a breath of fresh air and had a wide range of interests.

Peis, Bartl and the speakers also thanked those who had themselves put on the lists of parties and groups in the 2020 election.

Because the search for a candidate is often not easy - for reasons of time or because many do not dare to hold such an office.

"If there weren't such people, our Bavarian state would be much poorer," said Buchs Mayor Ferdinand Geisberger, who spoke on behalf of the Bavarian Municipal Council.

"The political voluntary work is often not appreciated enough," said Deputy District Administrator Franz Hofstetter.

It is all the more important that volunteers make themselves available.

"You don't do it for yourself, but for your homeland," he emphasized and thanked Peis for his work, also in the district council and at the adult education center (VHS).

Oberding's mayor Bernhard Mücke, who had replaced Peis as VHS chairman, spoke for them.

Peis made a significant contribution to the "VHS success model" and increased the number of teaching units from 20,000 (2011) to 43,000 (2020).

Mayor Bartl also used the evening to honor Jim Kaiser, who worked at the building yard for many years, and Beate Tilge, the former children's house manager.

Kaiser, also known as the “machine whisperer” because of his technical skills, has given up the shovel after almost 37 years.

He always had one with him in his Unimog.

And just on the first day of successor Stefan Gerlsbeck's shovel broke.

That's why Kaiser now got a new one.

Tilge managed the children's home for almost 38 years from 1983 and, among other things, also looked after Mayor Bartl as a boy.

He said: "Thank you for your energy, time and passion over the 38 years." Because of Corona, there were only goodbyes in a small circle at the time.
