In the governorates of Tartous, Al-Hasakah and Al-Raqqa, the activities of the Arab Reading Challenge initiative are continuing in its second stage for qualifying to select the top 10 students at the level of each governorate.

In Tartous governorate, 60 male and female students from the basic and secondary education stages participated in the second phase of the initiative, which was launched at the headquarters of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in the city.

Rabie Ahmed, head of the Department of Special Education in the Ministry of Education, director of educational supervision, said in a statement to SANA reporter that this meeting includes participants from outstanding schools in Tartous and Lattakia governorates to complete the implementation of the initiative that aims to reveal the talents and capabilities of our students, expressing his hope that Syria will achieve advanced positions in This initiative.

In turn, Reem Dalloul, the Arabic language coordinator in the Tartous Education Directorate and a member of the jury, pointed out that the initiative gives a wide space to read books printed in Arabic with various titles and helps to develop a love of reading among children and youth and instill it in them and expand their scientific and cultural awareness.

For her part, Dr. Maya Barakat, Head of the Research Department in the Directorate of Education and Coordinator of Guidance in the Committee, explained that a number of pages were identified for the participants from each book according to their age groups, taking into account preserving the essence of the initiative and adhering to its globally followed rules, considering that the presence of psychological counselors in the initiative is necessary to help students develop basic skills.

Poet Linda Ibrahim, coordinator of the Arab Writers Union in Tartous, stressed the importance of Syria’s participation for the first time in this initiative in its sixth session, describing each student’s reading of 50 diverse books on multiple literary, social, geographical, scientific and cultural topics, with a brief summary of it in accordance with the five challenges initiative passports and the motivating factor for reading for all participants currently and in the later stages.

In Al-Hasakah Governorate, a reading challenge competition was launched at Al-Qadisiyah School in Qamishli, with the participation of 22 male and female students of different ages.

The coordinator of the Arabic language in the Directorate of Al-Hasakah Education, Muhammad Al-Namis, considered that the competition motivates our students to read to increase their knowledge, build their personality in the future and enlighten the minds of this generation.

In turn, the head of the Research Department in the Education Directorate, Ilham Ismail, stated that what matters to the committee is the correct pronunciation of the participant, as questions are asked that include the meaning of the book he read, its conclusions, the lesson he learned from reading, and the relationship between what he read and what is happening around him in daily life situations in order to reach mature personalities And influential in life in terms of building the personality of young people.

In Raqqa governorate, 65 male and female students participated in the competition in the liberated countryside of the governorate from various educational levels. The Director of Education, Firas Al-Alou, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that this competition embodies the determination of our students by raising the level of their culture and enhancing their personality and making them lovers of science and knowledge and gain experiences to be active in the development of the country. .
