From the fall, some parents in Puchheim are likely to have more problems with looking after their children outside of the home.
Puchheim - According to a forecast based on the previous registration numbers and which was recently presented to the social committee of the city council, two crèche and kindergarten groups will probably not be able to be set up.
In five others, only operation with shorter opening hours will probably be possible.
The staff shortage
The reason is the glaring shortage of staff.
This is already noticeable, but not as many children have to be accommodated as from September.
All groups are currently open, only two of them have earlier pick-up times.
According to the current status, the parents of 30 offspring who were supposed to go to kindergarten will have to be patient or find another solution.
While there are still 262 children in this age group, the ratio is less favorable for the youngest.
132 future crèche children can be cared for, 28 are on the waiting list.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
Parents who are both employed and mothers or fathers who themselves work as educators or carers are given priority.
The age of the children can also play a role.
The last time there were waiting lists for daycare places was in 2017.
No improvement in sight
On paper, Puchheim is now sufficiently equipped for 1,170 children with 1,378 childcare places (including after-school care and day care).
Only there used to be enough staff but not enough day-care places; today it's the other way around.
The city's efforts to attract and/or retain skilled workers - through general allowances or special allowances for junior staff through to loyalty bonuses - do not seem to change the trend.
And there is no improvement in sight.

The educator profession is facing a demographic change, many older people are leaving.
And what is reported from practice according to the social welfare office does not make the job any more attractive: the daycare management is complaining about more and more administrative stuff, more and more demands from parents and more and more aggressive children.
Puchheim is not alone with the problem of staff shortages.
The neighboring municipality of Gröbenzell is also struggling with this.
Therefore, around 70 places could not be allocated here.
