In Wielenbach there are more births than deaths.

Not only is the population growing, the sewage fee for the district of Haunshofen and the property tax are also set to rise.

Wielenbach

- There were chairs for 800 people in the festival hall, which the drummer "Wuizboch" had prepared for its festival, so the 60 people from Wielenbach who came to the town hall meeting on Wednesday had enough space.

According to Mayor Harald Mansi, it is gratifying that the number of inhabitants, which had fallen from 3259 in 2018 to 3208, is now increasing again.

At the end of September last year, 3280 people lived in Wielenbach.

One reason for this is the excess of births.

The number of births has averaged 30 per year over the past four years, while there has been an average of only 25 deaths per year.

Debt will increase first

According to Mansi, the community's financial situation is "still solid".

The municipality has three million euros in debt, which will initially increase to six million euros and then slowly be reduced.

The main reason for this is the new construction of the town hall, which is to be expanded this year and next.

Other major projects include the conversion of the school building in Haunshofen into apartments, for which 1.7 million euros are planned, and the construction of a house for clubs, which is expected to cost 1.3 million euros.

The club house should not stand on the site of the current town hall, as originally planned, because this would restrict the village square too much.

The new location is to be on the site of the old fire station on Raistinger Strasse.

According to Mansi, the structure should be "square, practical, good".

The smaller projects include the renovation of the school's 30-year-old heating system and the securing of the Hardt chapel.

In the future, the school should be heated with pellets, and gas heating should cover the peak load.

In addition, the control should be improved, which would save heating costs.

For safety reasons, the spire of the Hardt chapel had to be removed, and now it is being checked what work still needs to be done.

Lorenz Geiger has been a member of the municipal council for 20 years

The meeting place “Together in old age” is almost ready.

According to Mansi, the rooms were acquired by the municipality, the conversion is ongoing and the opening is planned for this summer.

The network of everyday cycle paths is to be improved.

A section of the dirt road between Wilzhofen and Haunshofen is to be asphalted and a cycle path is to be built between Wielenbach and Wilzhofen.

Something is also planned for young people: a skate park on the railway line near the Hardtsiedlung.

According to Mansi, the recalculation of the costs for waste water disposal in Haunshofen has shown that the sewage treatment plant is no longer being operated to cover costs.

In order to cover costs, the wastewater price must be increased from EUR 1.40 to EUR 2.29 per cubic meter.

A photovoltaic system is to be installed to reduce the electricity costs of the system in the long term.

The property tax rate must also be increased, since the costs for the community are increasing.

For an average single-family home, this means that the property tax will increase by EUR 50 from EUR 350 per year.

Mansi thanked everyone who contributes to the functioning of the community.

He especially mentioned Lorenz Geiger, who has been a member of the municipal council for 20 years.

We are now looking for someone to organize the community holiday program.

The visitors of the meeting suggested setting up parking bans.

A number of citizens would not park their cars on their properties but on the streets, which would lead to traffic delays.
