Germering – A current project of Omas for Future Germering, related to the topic of plastic waste, is the cigarette butt Ramadamah.
Because tilt filters are also made of plastic.
"It was tedious and took two hours to collect around 1,500 butts," explains Ingeborg Köstner from Omas for Future.
The collection took place at the end of February on an area of about sixty square meters.
“And that in front of a kindergarten.
I then attached two
weatherproof collection containers
with lids to the posts of the bicycle shelter,” Köstner continues.
The containers state why proper disposal is necessary.
From this point on, as Grandma describes it, almost all cigarette butts in these makeshift ashtrays, which she has regularly emptied up to now.
In the last few months, well over 2,000 cigarette butts have accumulated "that would otherwise have ended up here in Germeringer Boden".

There are many
such
focal points in the city.
Cigarette butts are often simply thrown into the street.
"Some even end up on children's playgrounds, where they pose a direct danger to playing small children," says Köstner.
The Omas for Future wish that as many people as possible support them in their attempt to clean up the world, starting in Germering.
The cigarette butt collection containers could be attached to as many places in the city as possible, for example on garden fences.
"Equipped with protective gloves and bags, you can also use walks to pick up butts in order to then dispose of them professionally in the residual waste," says Köstner.
The grannies are also appealing to the city to install even more ashtrays.

Hints as to where doses would be useful and necessary are also welcome.
A cigarette is smoked in a few minutes, but pollutes the environment for years.
The filter consists of many toxins that get into the ground, water bodies or the sewage system with the rainwater.
“For the love of our descendants, we try to change our lifestyle and be a better role model.
We can save a quarter of CO2 emissions if everyone lived more climate-consciously," explain the Omas for Future.
The next
climate guard
is on Friday, June 3, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the market square, at the corner of Untere Bahnhofstrasse and Landsberger Strasse.
