According to Infoca sources, the fire started around 4:35 p.m. in an area of ​​bushes and low vegetation near the historic neighborhoods of Sacromonte and Albaicín.

The fire is still active and they point out that, "with complete certainty", it will continue this morning and on Monday.

There has been no eviction because the wind drives the flames towards agricultural areas.

The National Police has arrested a couple of hikers who were having a barbecue in the Cerro de San Miguel as the alleged cause of the fire.

As confirmed by police sources, the two hikers, a young girl and a young boy, were allegedly having a barbecue nearby.

Both have been arrested and are in the offices of the Granada National Police.

A Superpuma helicopter, two Kamov helicopters, another medium-heavy and a fifth from Cártama (Málaga), as well as a coordination plane, have been deployed.

About a hundred people work on land tasks with four bricas, five groups of forest firefighters, two operations technicians, an environmental agent and three fire trucks, in addition to the medical unit.

Some of the Infoca staff, who have the collaboration of the Granada Fire Brigade, the National and Local Police, have focused their tasks on the access road to the Sacromonte Abbey.

The Environment delegate of the Board, Manuel Francisco García, has moved to the command point to learn about the tasks for the control and extinction of the fire, whose smoke can be seen from different points of the city and its metropolitan area.
