A false alarm of a shooting generated a human stampede shortly after midnight Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, according to the New York City Police Department.
A crowd was leaving the Barclays after a boxing match when a loud noise was heard, the New York police said in a statement.
The bang reportedly spooked the crowd, causing many to start running fearing an attacker.
Some began to flee while others ran inside.
Approximately 10 people were injured and taken to a local hospital in stable condition, the statement explained.
All injuries were minor.

After investigating, police determined that no shots had been fired in the area and it is unclear what caused the loud noise.
Tennis star Naomi Osaka, who was at the event, tweeted that she was "petrified" amid the chaos.
“I was right in the Barclays center and all of a sudden I heard screaming and saw people running then they yelled at us there was an attacker and we had to huddle in a room and lock the doors I was so… petrified,” she wrote.
Later, she said that she hoped everyone was safe.
About 19,000 people, including Osaka and Madonna, turned out Saturday night to watch the boxing match between undefeated lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero, according to The Washington Post.
It is unclear if Madonna was present during the stampede of attendees.
