Washington, SANA- American experts criticized the plan of the administration of President Joe Biden to transport tons of infant formula by plane

Washington-Sana

US experts have criticized President Joe Biden's administration's plan to transport tons of infant formula by US military flights from Europe, wondering whether it will have a tangible impact in solving the severe milk shortage crisis in the country.

The American newspaper, The Hill, quoted Peter Bates, a former employee in the Food and Drug Administration, as saying that “the US administration’s program to use military aviation in order to accelerate shipments of infant formula from Europe to alleviate the crisis facing the Americans can be considered a signal, not a real way out of the crisis, with Biden seeking to show himself.” It is as if he is providing solutions to problems.

For her part, Nada Sanders, professor of supply chain management at Northeastern University, said that the shipments that arrived on Sunday and last Wednesday are not enough to meet the need and demand, adding that “it is expected that it will take more than three months to restore production to fill the shortfall.”

She pointed out that "the current situation in Ukraine contributed to the aggravation of the crisis due to the obstruction of the supply of the main ingredient in some formulations, which is sunflower seed oil."

A factory run by Abbott Corporation to manufacture infant formula in the United States was halted after regulators shut down its production line on suspicion that it was contaminated with disease-causing bacteria.
