Violent riots: 

Security forces continue at this time (Sunday) on missions to secure Jerusalem Day events.

Over the past few hours, the forces have dealt with a number of riots in the East Jerusalem area and the Old City, which included stone-throwing, violence and assaulting police officers and causing damage to a police car.

During a riot in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the east of the city, police arrested two suspects after attacking border fighters operating at the scene. In another case, stones were thrown near the garbage gate resulting in the need for a passerby evacuated in a light condition.

The Jerusalem District Medical Department and MDA staff have so far treated five police officers who were lightly injured in the various incidents and needed medical treatment.

From the beginning of the police preparations in the morning until now, more than 50 suspects have been arrested and detained for involvement in various incidents of rioting, assaulting police officers, etc., some with the assistance and guidance of the Jerusalem District Control Center.
