The municipality of Bayrischzell has bought a piece of land in the center of town.

The green area at the cemetery is to be preserved and neighboring building sites are to be regulated with a development plan.

Bayrischzell – The green area between the cemetery of the parish church of St. Margareth and Tiroler Straße in the heart of Bayrischzell is already a popular place for open-air events.

To ensure that the green lungs in the center are preserved as such, the municipality bought the property, which had previously been privately owned.

Expansion of the cemetery possible

Because this was a contractual matter, the municipal council made the decision in a non-public meeting, Mayor Georg Kittenrainer (CSU) informed at the most recent meeting.

The head of the town hall did not reveal how much the area cost.

But it does mean that it consists of two corridor numbers.

Kittenrainer explained that while the main area in the north should continue to be available for said gatherings, a later expansion of the cemetery is conceivable on the narrow strip in the east.

Time will tell whether this is even necessary in view of the trend towards urn burials.

The development plan regulates possible neighboring buildings

Since there is privately owned land in the south that can be built on according to Section 34 of the Building Code (insertion into the surrounding development), the municipality has also drawn up a development plan to define fixed construction windows here.

"This means that the development of the area is a good solution for everyone involved," says Kittenrainer.

The mayor emphasized that the community is open in many directions for further use of the green space in the north.

"If a good idea comes up, we're ready." Until then, however, the area should remain what the citizens of Bayrischzell appreciate: a green lung in the middle of town.
