Mardali singing, which is one of the components of the heritage of the Syrian island, was present in the artistic evening hosted by the lecture hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh as part of the Windows 5 event.

The evening program, organized by the Directorate of Intangible Heritage in the Ministry of Culture, varied between musical links presented by the artists Mahmoud Kardaholi and Shukri Supari on the Buzuq and Jambish and Ali Al-Dabiyat instruments on percussion.

In the evening, island songs were also presented, accompanied by the oud, presented by Iskandar Obeid, and Mardilla songs, with the voice of the young artist Rinas Al-Youssef.

The journalist, Idris Murad, the supervisor of the Windows 5 event, talked about the origin of the Mardali song, indicating that it belongs to the famous city of Mardin with its engraved yellow stone, which overlooks the plains of the Euphrates Island.

Murad referred to the characteristics of the Mardalian dialect and the style of its pronunciation, which extends from Mardin to Mosul through the Syrian island, which is close to the Mosul dialect, and one of the characteristics is the pronunciation of the damma on the past tense and it has been mixed with other dialects.

And about the Mardali song, Murad said, it intersects with the heritage of the various components of the rich city, even if it speaks one of the Arabic dialects, pointing out that Mardin is famous for a large number of songs, including the famous island song (Ya Dilho) and (Ay Lee Lee Henna), which is a special song for the bride on her wedding day.

Artist Mahmoud Kardaholi participated in the evening with several traditional musical pieces. He said in a statement to SANA reporter: The aim of this evening is to preserve heritage, and participation in it means a lot because it is the responsibility of the musicians to deliver this type of heritage songs in a beautiful way to the audience.

Young singer Rinas Al-Youssef, who in turn participated in emotional and emotional songs, pointed out that this is his first participation in a musical evening dedicated to Mardali singing, but he has been singing this style since his childhood, indicating that Mardali singing is characterized by the smoothness of its pronunciation and its closeness to the ear of the recipient.
