The band has also raffled the iconic pink hat of its singer, Oleh Psiuk, and dedicates the money to buy drones and help the Army of his country

Kalush Orchestra has shed two of the symbols of its victory in Eurovision 2022 to support the Ukrainian Army.

The band started last Wednesday, May 25, the auction of the trophy obtained as the winner of the European song contest, the glass microphone, for which it has obtained 838,000 euros.

It was taken by the Whitebit company, which specializes in currency trading.

Added to that money is another 347.00 euros from the draw for the iconic pink hat that its singer, Oleh Psiuk, has worn throughout his Eurovision adventure and that could be seen on the Turin stage while they performed the song

In this case, the band charged a minimum of six euros per ticket (to which a voluntary donation was added).

In total, 1,185,000 euros have been obtained by the group with these two actions.

The money has gone to the solidarity foundation created by the Ukrainian presenter Sergiy Prytula in an event broadcast through social networks.

Founded in 2014, coinciding with the annexation of Crimea to Russia, this institution has raised more than 22 million euros since the end of February, when Russia invaded its country.

In an interview granted to this newspaper days before his triumph at Eurovision 2022, Oleh Psiuk assured that participating in the festival was a way of not giving up on his goal as representatives of his country: “that Ukraine continues to be seen in the rest of the world ”, he explained.

The special permit that allowed the members of the ensemble to be abroad during the war expired just two days after performing in Italy, so the members of the Kalush Orchestra returned to the Ukraine almost immediately.

The band has gone out again to perform this Sunday before 15,000 people at the Brandenburg Gate, in a solidarity marathon that aimed to finance medical supplies in hospitals in 12 regions of Ukraine.
