The issue of living in Israel is a zero-sum game that few people can beat.

Buying an apartment is almost impossible because of housing prices that have already reached unimaginable heights and are just continuing to climb.

At the same time, the rental market - which is the alternative for those who cannot afford to buy their own apartment - is also becoming more expensive all the time.

Within this cruel set of circumstances, the odds are often against the tenants.

And so it turns out that rental prices are constantly rising, while the consideration for them is constantly deteriorating into new abysses.

The most delusional records are always broken by Tel Aviv, the most sought-after city in terms of rentals and also the one that attracts the most young people with big dreams and limited resources.

Another example that could join this list of dubious records was posted yesterday on the Facebook group "Apartments in Israel that oppress me", whose name is quite self-explanatory.

This is a one-room apartment that was offered for rent on the Yad2 website in the Hatikva neighborhood of Tel Aviv for NIS 2,100 a month.

This is what they call a "boutique building."

In what world is it 24 square meters? Photo of the rental ad from the Yad2 website (Photo: screenshot, Yad2)

The "one-room apartment" is actually a room in a private house, which in the ad is defined as a "boutique building" (lol blackmailer on the coffee, friends).

Inside the room is a double bed and next to it a shower and toilet - in a dense and close proximity and without separating walls or a door for privacy.

By and large it looks like they put a double bed in a bathroom and announced that it was an apartment.

Although the ad states that the property is 24 square meters, from the photos it seems to be much less (maybe half, and we were large).

"And what do you do if hosts and someone need the bathroom?"

Rightly wondered (!) One respondent to a post where the ad was shared on the Facebook group.

"It's good that there is no kitchen, because who has an appetite at all," wrote another respondent and another noted that: "You can commit a criminal offense, then get just like that for a few years and not have to pay anything," hinting that the conditions in the apartment are reminiscent of those found in detention facilities.

There is something in her words.
