Two earthquakes measuring 4.4 and 4 on the Richter scale hit the Sulaymaniyah Governorate in northern Iraq today, but no casualties were reported.
And the news agency (INA) quoted the Iraqi Ministry of Transport as saying in a statement that "the seismic observatories in the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded two earthquakes today in Sulaymaniyah, where the intensity of the first reached 4.4 degrees and occurred near the Iraqi-Iranian border, twenty kilometers southeast of Kalar district. In Iraq, the second tremor occurred about three minutes later, with a magnitude of 4, 22 km northeast of the same district.
Last March, an earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit Sulaymaniyah, without causing any casualties.
