The World Health Organization reported Friday that at least 650 cases under investigation have already been reported in 33 countries, between April 5 and May 26.

In children suffering from this disease, the common viruses that cause hepatitis A, B, C, D and E have been ruled out. Dr. Ernesto Márquez Guillén, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Hospital Ángeles Pedregal in Mexico City, explains what is know so far about this disease.
